The Final Study Session

[At last it's time. Time to do one last investigation into the individual that has been monitoring and reporting on you all. Today you'll have free access into the faculty office, as well as several areas you couldn't access before on the fifth and `A` floors of the dormitory.

The topic of investigation? The Administration and it's Teacher's Assistant.

Good Luck.

Although perhaps... it may be too late for that.

Infodump For The Dead

[personal profile] blackcatintheruemorgue 2018-10-05 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
The spy’s room was sparsely furnished.
They only had a desk, a chair, a side table, and a trash can.
Inside said trash can were a large amount of empty coffee cups.
The side table had a tablet and four wilted flowers.
The flowers were a chrysanthemum, a marigold, a snapdragon, and a sweet alyssum flower.

Once the tablet was turned on, this list was the first thing to pop up:

Yoosung Kim
Henry
Viral
Maya Fey
Hank Anderson
Mike Yagoobian
Alexander
Connor
Rebecca Gales
Han Young
Waver Velvet
Ryota Mitarai
Tess Rubikov

It looks to be a list of those who died at first glance… but it’s missing Grantaire, Doris, 2-D, and Nikolai.
If you exclude Doris, then one connection I can find between the other three is that they all intentionally killed people who participated in the entrance exam.
This connection could be supported by the fact the amount of flowers on the desk is the same amount as the amount of dead people who participated in the entrance exam.

However, that is just a bit of my own speculation as to it’s significance though, so don't take it as a fact.

There was an unnamed folder and recycling bin on the tablet screen.
Inside the recycling bin this was found:

[After a bit of fumbling with technology, he takes a photo of the code and sends it over the chat.]

We couldn’t get into the unnamed folder.
It’s password protected.
We tried 1X2HQTB3WU, but it didn’t work.

Other than that, we found a computer terminal on the desk.
It a message from Han on it:
"hey if you don't hear from me directly, then you've at least got this. sorry for whatever stupid stunt i tried. guess it didn't work out, eh? anyway. look, they're going to turn the students on you next. i was told to tell them that you existed at the beginning, just to get them to start thinking about it early. at first i didn't care, but you're a better person than i thought. you deserve a warning to take care of yourself."

It also a had a message sent to Oswald last Sunday:
"I’m going to be causing a commotion on Thursday. Tell this to Jim, too."

I believe the commotion being referred to was the smoke grenade incident this Thursday.
Someone set off smoke grenades in the classroom, gym, and men’s washing room.
I suspected it was the spy who did this, but the presence of several unused colored smoke grenades in the cabinet’s desk confirmed this for me.

The only other thing of note in the spy’s room was a word document on the desktop named “TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES".
It was a list of all the activities we’ve had to go through here and the equipment needed for them.
It read as follows:

"Equipment list:
Capture the flag: flags
Obstacle courses: walls, tires, rope nets, hurdles
Defense lessons: videos, instruction manuals
Paintball: paintball guns, paintball ammo, vests, colored smoke grenades."

Trust falls and camping are listed as well but were left blank.
There’s one more oddity with this document.
The events happened differently than they were planned to happen.
Capture the flag wasn’t planned to be us verses Han.
It was to be done with everyone split into two teams that would each have their own territories on campus.
The obstacle courses had the same concept but were far less fancy and had less variety in obstacles as they were all the types you could create with junk found lying around.
The defense lessons weren’t supposed to have any live demonstrations.

That’s all my group found.
However, while I was gone, I went ahead and got a summary of what Terra and Max found.
Allow me to share it.

They investigated the faculty office.
Inside, they found Oswald’s computer left open on his e-mail.
There were three unread emails sent to him by Jim.
Oswald appears to have been ignoring them.
They were titled the following:
"Subject: Change of Plans
Subject: Re: Report on Fall Class
Subject: Regarding the TA"

Terra was unable to open any of them as he didn’t have the password for Oswald’s computer.
He couldn’t preview the previous two as they were just attachments, but he got this small preview of the latter.
"I've thought about your suggestion, but we wi—"

That’s all he was able to get from the computer due to him lacking the password.
However, He and Max did find letters in the desk’s drawer.

The first one from Jim read as follows:
"Apparently, it is illegal to put cameras in the locker rooms. So we will NOT be doing that."
There was also this in another letter:
"The substance of the illness, D-765, is not dissimilar from influenza, Professor Hale. However, the mystery is still in how it spreads. It’s unfortunate that you’ve found out the hard way, but I have found several leads into a cure."

We also got letters to Oswald from H.
They were all… “sweet” in sense.
All were letters of encouragement, but they all seemed rather heavy-handed to me.
It seemed like if Oswald had any doubts, then H would push him to accept for sure he was doing the right thing and that there was nothing wrong with any of this.

He can't process all of this right now, but the parts he can... he doesn't like the sound of. ]

OK. Thanks. I'll share this with our side.

What do you need us to do?

Poe: Figure out the password to the unnamed folder on the tablet.
Poe: There are more of you over there, and thus more brains to pick.
Poe: If you have time, then guesses as to the password to Oswald's computer would be appreciated as well.
Poe: However, I feel the unnamed folder is the most important.
Poe: Please focus the majority of your efforts on that.

Poe: I have the tablet with me and will be here all day.
Poe: Just tell me what I should try and I'll enter it.
Poe: But only let me know if you're mostly positive it might be right.
Poe: I don't doubt that we will likely only have a limited amount of tries to guess it right before being locked out.
Poe: I believe the photo of the file we found is a clue to the password.
Poe: It would be your best place to start.

Got it. I'll let you know what we come up with.

You didn't find anything that proves it was him, did you? Or else you would have led with that.

[There's a large pause before a response is typed out.]

Poe: He has moved to being the prime suspect for me personally... but I'd rather not believe it was him without undeniable proof.

Poe: Just...
Poe: Decipher that clue.
Poe: The best evidence as to the spy's identity is likely in that folder.
Poe: Give me the means to open it so it can prove my doubts wrong.
Poe: Please.
