[Entrance Exam] Final Exam

Final Exam.

[ It's all happened very suddenly, but regardless, you're here now. The evidence has been examined and collected. You've now been ushered into the classroom to discuss the murder of the great detective himself, Sherlock Holmes. The traditional set up has been disturbed-- all the desks are now arranged in a perfect circle; one desk for each person that's participating in the program. There are nameplates for everyone, and they have been bolted to each of the desks, facing the inside of the circle...

...including the names of the ones who are no longer with you, the Prospect of Elucidating and the Prospect of Murder. Their chairs have been placed on top of their desks, signifying that they will not be needed. Above of their desks are holograms of their portraits from their profiles, grayed out and bloodstained.

At the front of the classroom, Vivienne sits anxiously behind the teacher's desk. The projector shows Sherlock's portrait, along with five other portraits that are listed under an auspicious header.
]

Victim.

Suspects.

[ The physical evidence tray sits in the middle of the circle of desks; you all have the Evidence app on your tablets to access photo evidence. And although she appears reluctant, Vivienne gives some final instructions. ]

Your final test... is to find the culprit. Naturally... the person you find guilty will be... punished... so... make sure you look for an answer you're... confident in. An error in judgment would be... cruelly... fatal...

Examination START.

I am the one who examined the body. If you have any questions, I will answer. My notes were submitted as evidence. For a basic run-down, he was stabbed once rather messily in the right side of his neck, and rigor mortis has already begun to set in. There didn't seem to be much of a struggle, either.

[ There. Let's get this started. As a note: the usual lack of inflection seems kind of strained. ]

I was there, too! I helped flip the body and everything! And I also found a bottle of nyquil in his pocket!

[he puts a hand to his chin, pondering.]

Is there any sign he might have drank the nyquil?

And can anyone describe how the body was first found?

[personal profile] reshoot 2018-06-02 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
The teacups had the scent of NyQuil on them, didn't they? Signs point to yes, but it's not neccesarily 100% infallible.

Tess was the one to find it, right? She yelled to everyone that there was a dead body in the gym, and I think the rest of us showed up after that.

Thank you providing us with a thorough report. I fail to see how a man who'd investigate the crime scene and give such a full explanation would be guilty of this particular crime.

[ that is naive of her to say but. what were you expecting ]
escardos: (onze.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-06-02 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I've watched movies like that! The detective ends up being the culprit and doesn't remember it because they have a secret double personality!

[ what kind of movies has he been watching ]
heartcatcher: (1 - oDSuLeT)

[personal profile] heartcatcher 2018-06-02 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)

That is incredibly naive of you to say.

[ I'm sorry but Shuu is going to say it. ]

It hardly removes me at all, as it would allow me to falsify records or even to remove evidence. Had Flat not been there, that much would have been easy, so with witnesses I can tell you it didn't happen.

[personal profile] heartcatcher 2018-06-02 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
...Hm. I see.

[ ... ] Is there anything else you'd like to say to clear your name?

[personal profile] 9laborsoflove 2018-06-02 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't have made a wound so messy. It would be clean and precise with no hesitation.

[ ...That's probably not actually comforting Shuu? ]

enjoymyatelier: that is incredibly unattractive (wow lancer what are you)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-06-02 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
...Why is the Detective even on there, then? Did anyone find any evidence that the man was drugged by a small yellow rodent?
9laborsoflove: (pic#9161470)

curseoclock: (007)

[personal profile] curseoclock 2018-06-02 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, a messy stabbing. Heck of a way to go!

How messy are we talking? Like, some chump's very first stabbing attempt?
9laborsoflove: (pic#9161473)

[personal profile] 9laborsoflove 2018-06-02 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. The other option I thought of was they were using their non-dominant hand. Perhaps they even hesitated and weren't too sure of what they were doing. There's a few reasons why that stab would be messy. But they knew a good place to stab someone.
curseoclock: (007)

[personal profile] curseoclock 2018-06-02 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the neck's a pretty good spot! Just, stab! right in there and down they go. But it's a pretty obvious place, isn't it? Don't need to be a murder scientist to go for that.
9laborsoflove: (pic#9161473)

[personal profile] 9laborsoflove 2018-06-02 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I would assume most people know about the front of the neck from media. I'm not so sure about where the neck and shoulder meet. That may have simply been luck...
