[Entrance Exam] Final Exam

Final Exam.

[ It's all happened very suddenly, but regardless, you're here now. The evidence has been examined and collected. You've now been ushered into the classroom to discuss the murder of the great detective himself, Sherlock Holmes. The traditional set up has been disturbed-- all the desks are now arranged in a perfect circle; one desk for each person that's participating in the program. There are nameplates for everyone, and they have been bolted to each of the desks, facing the inside of the circle...

...including the names of the ones who are no longer with you, the Prospect of Elucidating and the Prospect of Murder. Their chairs have been placed on top of their desks, signifying that they will not be needed. Above of their desks are holograms of their portraits from their profiles, grayed out and bloodstained.

At the front of the classroom, Vivienne sits anxiously behind the teacher's desk. The projector shows Sherlock's portrait, along with five other portraits that are listed under an auspicious header.
]

Victim.

Suspects.

[ The physical evidence tray sits in the middle of the circle of desks; you all have the Evidence app on your tablets to access photo evidence. And although she appears reluctant, Vivienne gives some final instructions. ]

Your final test... is to find the culprit. Naturally... the person you find guilty will be... punished... so... make sure you look for an answer you're... confident in. An error in judgment would be... cruelly... fatal...

Examination START.

I think, and correct me if I'm off base here, Sherlock Holmes would intuit the correct way to use NyQuil by reading the directions on the back of the bottle.

That doesn't mean he would have, and it's something we need to question. In fact, him being slipped NyQuil unknowingly would also account for why someone managed to stab him with little struggle. It's something we must consider.

The bottle was in his pocket.

Did you see his pants? He wasn't wearing no JNCO's.

Anyone can slip something into the pocket of the dying or dead to cover up something. Really, I would think you of all people would know this.

His pants were tight.

That's what I'm getting at. Nyquil is a bulky bottle.

If you want to suggest that, go ahead, but you are literally suggesting that Sherlock Holmes, the smartest man alive, famous for being exacting in his observations, wouldn't notice NyQuil was slipped in his drink.

So, yeah, if you want to say he got dumb overnight, go for it.

Did you know that one of the potential symptoms for withdrawal is slowed thinking and thought processes? What about difficulty concentrating? It's not off the mark to say someone could have done that to him in that state. If he was "the smartest man alive," I have reason to doubt he'd consume a large amount of NyQuil in the cafeteria then wander to the gym in order to be stabbed there. Would he not have returned to his room instead of leaving himself vulnerable?
tiehard: (That's ridiculous Charles)

He's an addict.

His tolerance was probably through the roof.

Also, have you smelled NyQuil before? It's not exactly hard to miss, even under withdrawal. You are suggesting a complete 180 in behavior for a pretty weak reason, my bird.

Hardly a weak reason, considering I'm a doctor. Unless you're saying he was suicidal and willing to die, allowing someone not only the room to stab him but little resistance? The only thing I can think is he was inebriated. And considering the positioning, he was quite likely stabbed from the front. So you can't tell me he didn't see it coming, because he, quite literally, would have.
tiehard: OH NO? (i don't know what to do)

[personal profile] tiehard 2018-06-02 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Hold on, that suicide thing.

That sort of makes sense.

Hey, Flat, you and Sherlock are from the same place, right?

[ Okay now he's listening, since he'd personally dismissed that option. ]
escardos: (onze.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-06-02 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh-?! Oh--uh, yeah we are. He was a Heroic Spirit so it's not like I've met him before coming here but, yeah!
tiehard: (That's ridiculous Charles)

[personal profile] tiehard 2018-06-02 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
So, when someone's a Servant... what's that mean? Gimme the deets, I am here for them.
escardos: (douze.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-06-02 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe Miser K can explain better than I can but...

[ hey there's already been a lot of damage done in terms of keeping the magi world a secret. one more rock won't hurt. ]

Okay, so Servants are like Heroic Spirits summoned by a Master to fight in a war. And Heroic Spirits are legends or famous historical people that have amazing powers. Like, Mister Holmes should have had amazing powers before coming here!

They can be summoned. So how do you unsummon them? And what happens if they die?
escardos: (quatorze.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-06-02 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I...I don't think you can unsummon them. Unless they die. Then the energy that makes them up, Mana, goes back to...wherever it came from. I think.
tiehard: (OH I GET IT)

[personal profile] tiehard 2018-06-02 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Aha.
enjoymyatelier: and everything hurts (FACEPALM X2 COMBO)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-06-02 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[he's not even yelling anymore he's just putting his hands over his face in mortification]
escardos: (cinque.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-06-02 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Did I do well, Mister K?!
enjoymyatelier: are you okay sola (sola are you okay)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-06-02 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Of course. It doesn't matter anymore, I suppose.
unswaying: (ponponpon9)

[personal profile] unswaying 2018-06-02 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
You sure? You look like you're about to blow a gasket.
enjoymyatelier: by which i mean not at all (KAYNETH used FRUSTRATION!)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-06-03 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
This is all supposed to be a closely guarded secret.
