WEEK ONE

[ Well that Orientation... happened. Whether you feel more informed or not, the truth remains. Here you are, within Fayflower University. You have your run of the campus, indoors and out.

There's also your tablets to play with. There are several apps-- and even a game! They didn't leave you without some entertainment. The music is a bit dated though...

And should you wish, there's still time to talk to the "staff" in a more... private setting. The office. They're not hard to find. Well-- your Professor, Han and Megumi aren't. Oswald is a bit more... difficult. ]

[ oh my fucking GOD REMA

waver jumps back in surprise, raising his hands up ]

No- I mean- yes?! Everything's fine! It's just, uh, I guess I didn't expect a robot-- android, i mean, to be in water.

[ and because he's at least 30% flustered ]

[ i'm here to help. ]

If I short-circuited in water, I wouldn't be much help in the rain.

[ . . .

waver is so disappointed with himself that it's not even funny. to him. to me it's hilarious. ]

Yeah. Makes sense. [ he supposes ] Do you need to exercise?

No, but the movement helps to calibrate my systems. It's better than sitting idle.

Oh.

[ waver nods, thinking. ]

That's similar to humans, I think. The way muscles can become atrophied if we don't use them or we can forget skills if we don't practice often.

It makes sense that CyberLife would want to simulate similar movements. It's also why I appear to breathe, even though I do not require oxygen. With a body that looks human, it makes it easier with humans to see behaviors they understand.

[ waver is silent, considering what connor says. then, he speaks up ] Actually, it might be causing the completely opposite effect in some. Have you ever heard of the 'uncanny valley effect'?

Yes, but after seventeen years of androids it hasn't been the case.

Well, I think it's something that's still disputed about even in my age. Some people say it exists, some doesn't.

[ he shrugs ] Not that I'd know much about it. Some people I know are still unwilling to even use a phone, much less a computer.

There are people like that in every time, I think.
