[So, items had been showing up randomly to random people, or something, right? Hank had all that junk with him...Well, if that's the case then...

You'll find Max in a corner in the common room, taping a few sheets of paper to the wall. On them is written: "LOST: (1) Polaroid Camera, Please Return to Max Caulfield @ Room 15 if Found. Reward if Found in Working Condition" The papers also include a small, fairly detailed drawing of the camera for those that may not be familiar.

In the evening, you'll find Max in the field, sitting in the grass and writing in a notebook. If you come by twice, you may notice that Max has been there for a very long time. If you come by at just the right time, you might find her to be yelling loudly. Not loud enough for anyone outside the field to hear, but still pretty loud considering that this is Max we're talking about.]

Yeah, it's a camera, for photography. Basically, it uses light to record a reflection of what's in front of the camera. I mean, in the simplest terms, anyway...
