Break the Ice Part 2

Well that was. [Han...] You all did really well yesterday.

[She didn't participate but of course, she was watching! ...probably on her phone. But today she's here to assist! Which means there's probably some other stupid activity ready to be thrown your way.]

Today we have a different kind of bonding activity for you! The name of today's game is--! Two lies and a truth. Today you're going to test how well you know each other-- and maybe learn a lot more!

[And for those who may not know the rules--]

You're going to give someone a list of two things that are not true about you-- and one that is. And based on what they know about you and their impressions of you, they're going to do their best to find the truth. When it's all done, you'll tell them whether they're right or not and if they got it wrong-- you'll tell them the truth!

Let's go with this: I have a younger sister. I wasn't born with the last name 'Emiya'. I like umekobucha.

The truth is about your last name, right?

It is, yeah. I'm adopted, so my original last name wasn't Emiya... but I don't actually remember my old name anymore.

Then it sounds like Emiya is really the only name that matters.

To be honest... that last name that I have now, it really is the only name that matters to me now. Since it's the name that saved me.

It's good that you found a family that was so kind.

Yeah. I'm glad, too. I've always thought that family is pretty important, after all.

I imagine they miss you.

... Probably. Do you have anyone that would miss you?

No. I am a machine - I'm replaceable.

I think... that's wrong. Even if you are a machine and someone replaces you, I don't think it would be the same. Not to most people, I'd like to think.

My replacement would look like me and my my memories. It would be seamless.

But that doesn't change that your body got destroyed. It still... hurts the people around you, and I think that's important.

I don't know. This isn't the way it is at home. In Detroit, no one would treat me as if I were human the way everyone here does.

Didn't you tell me that you had a younger sister? It has to be that.

Well... I kind of treat her like a younger sister, but she's actually not younger than I am. Even though she calls me her 'onii-chan' a lot.

Yeah. I was adopted by my old man, so I used to have a different last name.

Did he adopt you after the war? Is that why you don't know much about him during the war?

... yeah. The aftermath of the War-- the Grail destroyed my home and killed a lot of innocent people. I was one of the only survivors.

It's fine. I... wasn't hiding it, anyway. But I am lucky. It's because of that luck that I don't want to see anyone suffer like that anymore.
