[Entrance Exam] Arrival
You wake up. There’s a dull, throbbing pain in your head that lasts for a few moments. You’re slightly disoriented at first, but once you come to your senses, you realize that you are not where you were last. You lift your head and realize that you're sitting at a desk. You aren’t quite sure where this is, exactly, but from what you can tell--desk and all--this appears to be some sort of...fancy classroom. Maybe there are others in the room who are as lost and confused as you are; maybe you’re the only one. At least you’re not in the dark. The room is well-lit, giving you a proper view of the blue and silver designs that make up the school’s colors.
You feel something around your wrist, so look down at your hands and notice a strange sort of bracelet. Some of you may be able to discern that it's some sort of Fitbit, but try as you might, you cannot remove it.
You only have a few more seconds to process what’s happening before you hear something buzzing on the desk you’re sitting at.
It appears to be a tablet of some sort. It turns on automatically due to a notification that pops up on the screen. The notification reads, “Good morning, Prospect. Welcome to Fayflower University’s Entrance Exam!”
There’s a “Next” button that leads you to another notification: “Please spend the next hour introducing yourself to your fellow Prospects. More information on your peers can be found on the "Profiles" app. Failure to engage will result in punishment. Be sure to adhere to the rules, which can be found in an application called “Rules” on this device.”
There’s one last notification: “When the hour is up, report to the Gymnasium immediately for your Orientation. You will be given further information and instruction there.”
You exit out of the notification. You now understand what the notification means: the tablet has four applications: Rules, Tasks, Profiles, and Maps. If you try to click on the Tasks app, another notification pops up indicating that the application is currently unaccessible. The Maps app only shows you a map of the building you're in right now. There's a little marker indicating your location as well: The one and only classroom in the vicinity.
A large red timer appears at the bottom of the screen. 59:59.
You'd better get started.

When you put it like that, it does sound a lot more stunning. I've never actually seen a magician in real life.
[ Just the ones she's read about in books. ... And Yoshiko's weird dark
fake'magic' ]But You're a magi?! [ At this point, Hanamaru is starting to think the device is much less impressive than Flat. ] That's even more amazing. What sort of tricks can you do? Are you able to pull rabbits out of hats? Bend spoons with your mind? Or can you make fire appear, zura?!
[ Listening to his words is more than enough to get her excited! Look at these two excitable balls of energy... ]

[ he nods excitedly, and chuckles at her examples. ]
Well, it's not exactly normal tricks, y'know? For example, I have two friends that use magecraft on jewels, infusing them with elements like water or fire and using them for things. My best friend, I call him Le Chien, he can turn into this werewolf like beast! And I...
[ he thinks for a while. how would he be able to explain it? ]
Okay, so I can do this kind of magecraft called Chaos Magic! Quite honestly, I'm not really sure myself what I can do, but I can do things like take control of other magi's craft or their Magic Circuits-- which is kind of like...our nerves, but for doing magecraft. I'd show you, but the person that brought us here disabled my circuits.
[ flat laughs lightheartedly, shrugging. it's a bit sad he can't use his craft, but that's fine! ]
I'd love to learn how to do normal magic tricks, though. Like the ones where they slice people in a box, but then the person ends up being totally okay!

[ At his explanation, she is oohing and awing. Tablet who??? She's legit not even paying attention to her electronic device and is instead, listening to Flat with bright eyes. It's even enough for her to forget about what was going on. ]
You and your friends sound amazing. It's so impressive that you all know different magic tricks. [ Learning that he lost magic ever since arriving here causes her to frown a little. ] I'm sorry you can't use them. It's sad that they took your magic away. Maru would have loved to see it.
[ She hopes that maybe he'll get his craft back. But as much as she doesn't want to think about it, she has a feeling that the reason why it's gone is to prevent their escape. So, she tries to think of happier things!!! ]
Oh right?! Magicians are so fascinating because I've always wanted to know how their assistants are perfectly fine after being sliced! Or how they make a table float. Maybe if we have time, it could be a thing to learn until you get your magic back?

But it's still really cool! And my professor, he's the absolute best in the Clock Tower. He's super smart, like...kind of like Sherlock Holmes and everyone looks up to him! In fact, if he was here right now, he would probably be able to get us out of here.
[ just thinking about his professor is enough to keep his good mood from disappearing under the stressful situation. besides, the talk about mundane magic quickly snatches his attention again! ]
Oooh, the floating table magic! And my favorites are also the ones with the cards. How do they manage to get the exact card I picked? It's so weird!

[ She's really curious. Because honestly, the school not being like Hogwarts makes her even more fascinating. It's more exciting that it's not like the books and something new she can learn. ]
He sounds really amazing. If you say he can get us out of here, I bet he can. Even though I'm glad he's not stuck here, it's a shame I can't meet him.
[ The only good thing about this place so far is meeting so many nice people and she's interested in this professor, especially since he sounds so cool!! ]
The card trick is something I've always been curious about too!! It's like, they are psychic and it's really fascinating how they are able to pull it off! Maybe the cards have some sort of marking on the back of them that we can't see?

[ he puts his hand to his chin, humming as he thinks of something that doesn't quite fit in his mind. ]
Then how do they see it? Do you think they have some sort of special vision? Like-- magicians with modified eyes?!
no subject
[ Maybe that's why a magician never reveals their secrets? Although she has thought of another possibility. ]
It's a little more on the boring side, but my initial thought was maybe they have some sort of scratches on the card. So, they memorize the scratches and that's how they are able to know exactly which one we picked?
