[Entrance Exam] Arrival
You wake up. There’s a dull, throbbing pain in your head that lasts for a few moments. You’re slightly disoriented at first, but once you come to your senses, you realize that you are not where you were last. You lift your head and realize that you're sitting at a desk. You aren’t quite sure where this is, exactly, but from what you can tell--desk and all--this appears to be some sort of...fancy classroom. Maybe there are others in the room who are as lost and confused as you are; maybe you’re the only one. At least you’re not in the dark. The room is well-lit, giving you a proper view of the blue and silver designs that make up the school’s colors.
You feel something around your wrist, so look down at your hands and notice a strange sort of bracelet. Some of you may be able to discern that it's some sort of Fitbit, but try as you might, you cannot remove it.
You only have a few more seconds to process what’s happening before you hear something buzzing on the desk you’re sitting at.
It appears to be a tablet of some sort. It turns on automatically due to a notification that pops up on the screen. The notification reads, “Good morning, Prospect. Welcome to Fayflower University’s Entrance Exam!”
There’s a “Next” button that leads you to another notification: “Please spend the next hour introducing yourself to your fellow Prospects. More information on your peers can be found on the "Profiles" app. Failure to engage will result in punishment. Be sure to adhere to the rules, which can be found in an application called “Rules” on this device.”
There’s one last notification: “When the hour is up, report to the Gymnasium immediately for your Orientation. You will be given further information and instruction there.”
You exit out of the notification. You now understand what the notification means: the tablet has four applications: Rules, Tasks, Profiles, and Maps. If you try to click on the Tasks app, another notification pops up indicating that the application is currently unaccessible. The Maps app only shows you a map of the building you're in right now. There's a little marker indicating your location as well: The one and only classroom in the vicinity.
A large red timer appears at the bottom of the screen. 59:59.
You'd better get started.

...actually, wait a second and give him the chance to look up and- ah. ]
Kurusu Akira. You weigh 1.67 kilograms more than me, or are you saying that's close enough? [ For the record, his tablet is on the maps application right now. And despite his deadpan delivery, there's just the hint of a smirk playing on his lips. ]
no subject
[ Don't call his weight out like this, what if he's sensitive? ]
Were we technologically advanced enough that cloning is an exact art, even down to how we develop? There's always a little room for fluctuation.
no subject
[ Too bad Akira, his name is a number he can't help it. ]
You might have a point. A thief is one thing I would never consider myself, either way. [ A hacker? Sure but the nomenclature matters, okay. ]
no subject
[ And you find apps on your phone that can't be deleted and things just spiral from there. ]
Put two identical things in different places and circumstances and they'll find different ways to grow.
JUST GONNA HOP IN HERE
[ Blinks... yeah, he saw the resemblance in the profile, but seeing this juxtaposition irl is something else. ]
Oh! Wow, haha.
[ Not that he ever had a dream like this or anything... clears throat. ]
Sorry if I'm interrupting anything! Uh, I'm Yuuki Mishima, it's nice to meet you.
no subject
Don't tell me you're familiar with a Mishima who interrupts you constantly too. [ And then to the boy in question. ]
Is there a reason you're staring besides the obvious? [ Yeah sure that passes for a greeting. ]
no subject
[ Does this guy have his own version of him or something? Are there like, bizarro world versions of the whole Phantom Thieves team?? ]
No, just the obvious, I think.
split threads!
Nothing. I don't see the point in introductions with the profiles, but you've already started. [ Which means go ahead, cause Nine certainly isn't going to volunteer anything. ]
no subject
Is he supposed to ask questions or keep talking about himself? ]
Y-yeah, I guess that's true. It's helpful for getting to know each other though, right? Actually interacting with someone in real life is different than just reading a few lines of text about them.
no subject
You're right, though.
no subject
It's... more my experience as someone who's spent a lot more time looking at people's online profiles than talking to them in person, haha.
[ But yeah! He's definitely right! ]
Anyway, Kurusu and I are in the same class at school, so.
[ So that's why he's here, talking to you. ]
You're Nine, right?
[ I mean, you're seventeen, but. ]
sorry for the late!
Yeah. [ A beat. ] And we're roomates, even if not for long.
no worries!
But whoa, hold on, he hasn't seen the rooming assignments yet, so this is news to him! ]
Wait, we are? Where did you see that?
[ Not that he has a problem with it or anything! But-- shouldn't he be with Actual Akira? Did whoever was doing the assignments just get mixed up? ]
no subject
no subject
[ Which was probably obvious.
Anyway... well, 103 should be right next door, right? Or maybe across the hall depending on how the rooms are arranged. Either way, even if they're not in the same room, it'll still be cool being that close! And maybe it's better if they don't relive the Hawaii hotel experience anyway. ]
Well, I haven't really shared a room with anyone outside of school trips before, but I think I'm a pretty okay roommate!
[ When he's not up all night with food poisoning. ]
So, you know, let me know if any issues come up or anything. And sorry if this was kind of a weird introduction.
no subject
[ So the bar there is set pretty low, thanks Lisa. Ah but, there's one more thing he should say. ]
For the record, Twelve will be staying with me.
no subject
Um... like, living in the room with us?
no subject
He doesn't mind the penalty for sleeping in an unassigned room.
no subject
[ Why does this always happen to him... ]
I don't want to give up my bed, though.
no subject
You won't have to, we're used to sharing one. [ Not every night because his sleeping habits are awful and the couch is usually where he ends up after coding binges. But those are details he didn't think were necessary to share, despite how his comment may make them sound. ]
no subject
O-oh, so you're, uh...
[ ...
Is there a non-rude way of phrasing any of the questions he has about this?? ]
no subject
Not what you're thinking of. [ But as Mishima will likely see for himself, that's not entirely true either. ]
no subject
[ Well, Mishima is still blushing enough for both of them, so that's fine. That answer is a big relief, and NOT BECAUSE HE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THAT, but because he hates feeling like a third wheel, and he didn't want to have to deal with potentially being sexiled from his own room.
...At the same time, though, he kind of also feels an inexplicable hint of... uh... maaaaybe slight disappointment? or something??? that he definitely doesn't want to think about too hard and that definitely probably has nothing to do with this guy looking like Kurusu.
He laughs awkwardly. ]
Sorry. Um, okay, that's... fine then?
[ Wait that sounded wrong ]
I mean, not that it wouldn't be fine either way!
no subject
It's fine, Mishima. [ ...... ] Don't tell Twelve we spoke about this.
[ 'Cause that's a subject he prefers not to think about tyvm. ]
no subject
[ He's all about keeping those confusing potentially gay feelings locked away! ]
Well, I... guess I'll see you later after this assembly, then. I'd like to hear about your videos and stuff when we have the time!
