[You know those films - well, probably not you, Terra - where the action slows to a standstill? This is that moment; people around them are slowing down, slowly freezing. Even Maya feels her own movement seemingly freezing up as she brings her newly made burger up to her mouth...

And bites down on it, just as she looks up at the sound of Terra's warning.]

[It's only now, as time catches up with her, that Maya Fey fully realizes the size of her mistake. This was not the pepper she thought it was.

With considerable effort on her part, Maya manages to swallow the bite, with the piece of pepper included in it. But that just opens her up to yelling as her mouth is seemingly set alight with flame. Or, at least, that's how it feels.

Where did her water go]

[ Oh no...what is he going to do, he was too late!!

Nah, the brunet knows what to do. He'll go ahead and grab some water and pour her some in a cup, here you go he'll be handing the cup over to her...

Don't worry he's prepared to pour more because that stuff is super hot. ]

[She snatches the cup from Terra's hands with the grace of someone who wouldn't want to drop a drop of it, and she starts drinking. She doesn't stop until the glass is empty.

Maya sets it down, wiping her mouth on her sleeve, and lets out a heavy breath. The ordeal has left her wide-eyed in shock.]

....Whoa! That was spicy!

[ ... Pouring her another cup now, because why not. ]

Ghost peppers are pretty spicy. Where did you even get that?

[You're a good person, Terra. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.]

Uh, I just found it outside my door one morning?

[Hang on, she needs... more water...]

...What do you mean "ghost" pepper?

[ He tries his best. ]

It's just a type of pepper that's spicy. Like chilli peppers, except even more spicy than that.

They practically burn the roof of your mouth off.

[ Pause. ]

...You've never heard of them, have you?

....Of course! I just didn't... recognize it, at first.

[Now she does. Oh boy, now she does.]

[ He laughs and reaches over to pat her shoulder lightly before drawing away. ]

Well, at least you won't have to worry about not recognizing it later on, right?
