locked_down | An instance of darkness won’t leave behind a trace of shadow

[ Today's been another difficult trial, in of itself, but even after everything, the brunet doesn't find himself so willing to slink back, and just sullenly go about the night. How could he, when people were suffering, when his heart was telling him to reach out to them?

He gathers collections of papers and a pen.

They may think that what they're doing is right, and that they'll save everything if they sacrifice the lives of people they don't know. But we already know the truth, and I'm not about to let them have the satisfaction of what they might think is a 'job well done'.

Remember, deep down in our hearts, we're stronger than anything they can throw at us. Even if it doesn't feel it right now, the people we cherish and love will always be with us, no matter where we are. Together, we can make it through anything if we support each other in the hardest times, and keep fighting, no matter what happens.

If you don't want to be alone, you can come down by the library. There's some food for anyone who's hungry.

Terra's sure that maybe the cafeteria is better for a place with food, but there's a reason why he's in the library. It looks like he has a few candles he found from shenanigans with last week and he's going to be probably setting them up, unless someone tells him it's a bad idea.

There's mostly some sandwiches he's made, and some juice he's brought along. Nothing too heavy because of what happened, but all in all, he tried his best. He's sure that's what Viral and Henry would've wanted... probably. ]

[ Shirou isn't going to argue that the cafeteria is a better place for food, but even though the execution hit him hard in ways that aren't exactly... the norm for what would be his reaction. He wasn't even upset because Viral had died.

He was upset because it was a fire, of all things.

Nevertheless, he's even more extremely quiet than usual -- not getting some food or drink (he's not in the mood) and is just. He's just sitting at a table, staring at the surface. ]

[Monika sits across with him at the table quietly. She remembers them talking about a fire once so...]

Emiya... will you be alright?

[ it’s awkward when your hiding place has now become the place for a reunion...but waver doesn’t protest. he doesn’t have the heart or the strength to do so right now.

instead, he seems to be reading something— but that’s just for appearances. he hasn’t flipped the page in the last ten minutes and his food and juice are pretty much untouched. it seems there’s too much on his mind for him to think about reading, much less eating. ]

[ Osomatsu sits in the corner of the library, trying to drink himself to oblivion again. But it doesn't look like he's as successful as last time. He's tipsy, yes, but not full on drunk. And he's not as jumpy as you'd expect from someone who just had a Four Loko. Right now he's trying to pour some Franzia into the empty can. ]

[ Oso, stop that. That's not healthy. ]

[Monika's here if only physically. What a mess. She feels sort of disconnected from the others after spending so much time alone this week, but the library gives her some comfort at least. She has a little food at the table she's sitting at with a small stack of books.]

They have some of my favorite here, you know. If you want a distraction I highly recommend them.

It'll take some time, but...

[ He'll figure it out. He has to. It's just too fresh in his mind for him to forget, however. Because it makes him sick to his stomach, that he had to see someone else die in a fire again. ]

I'll figure something out. I have to. Because... I can't just stay useless like this.

[ well... waver doesn’t need to deduce why shirou was acting like this. the issue is that he doesn’t know how to make things better. ]

Will you be okay?

[ Considering that Waver already knows, he doesn't need to even ask. ]

I don't know. But I'm going to try.

Right...

[Monika looks down at her hands.]

I have no idea what to do though. I've been trying to think about it, and I just don't have any ideas.

[just kinda taps waver's shoulder a few times and points to his food when he has his attention]

Aren't you going to eat?

[Wow, you look pretty bad, Shirou. The hat guy isn't sure if he even wants to give consolation -- Shirou is just some kid, he has no reason to think he's a friend or anything -- so instead he goes for a question:]

You gonna make a doll for Morty?

[That's Henry. He's sure Viral will get one because Viral didn't go dragging heads around, like Henry, so that's what he's wondering.

Because obviously this is the time for this question]

It's hard.

[ He agrees that he doesn't know what to do, either. But that doesn't mean that he's going to give up. He can't. ]

But I think we just need to make sure that even if we don't know what to do... that we still continue to live. We have to prove it to them. That we won't lose to this.

[ When he says those words, it's through gritted teeth and clenched fists on the desk. ]

[The hat guy is trying very, very hard not to think about the execution. He's so tired of seeing people die -- even if they were pretty much strangers.

When he passes by the table where Monika is, he frowns]

More books? I haven't even finished the first one I was given.

[Indeed, he has a book behind the GIANT BRAIN suspender. He took it from Poe's pile during the week]

...huh?

[ That question is enough to snap him out of his reverie, so it's enough for him to just look at him curiously. But he does answer. ]

Yeah, I will. It's only fair, after all.

I see you've been making good use of the library Monika.

[He'll start looking through the books to try and pick one out.]

[honestly, he needs to get out.

while ya'll are partying, he is pumping iron in the gym.

[Maya wasn't so sad from today that she couldn't get out and stretch her legs... No, that's not right. She was restless, looking for more to do by this point than mourn. So there she goes, walking around ~~looking for trouble.~~ Heading to the gym, apparently. She's not in here very much, but it seems like someone is.

And that someone is... Oh.

She's conflicted, mostly because she was just yelling at the guy. This isn't fair.]

Hmm.... eight out of ten.
