Week 4

[ It's now Week 4 at Fayflower University. With the new week comes another memory, and a new floor to explore. That's nice, after everything, right? Right, of course it is.

However, other things have changed besides the floor access. The wall has always been a point of contention after the fiasco in week one. And then the frog, and now the investigation. However, going within three feet of the wall is oppressive now, in feeling. It feels as though you're being watched-- and targeted for something.

Be careful~]

Yeah. He stole gold from the rich and gave it to the poor. There's a Western outlaw that did the same thing, right?

[ He thinks he remembers something about a guy in the West who lived in a forest? Something like that. ]

I don't think there's a lot of solid, undeniable information on him though. Other that what people have speculated and written down later on.

Yes, like Robin Hood... If there's not a lot of information on him, just what's this say?

[ He's got her interested, that's for sure. Go on, don't leave her in suspense! ]

[ Robin Hood... ]

Speculations and stories that make up his possible origins. One says he was born as Sanada Kuranoshin in 1558 to a samurai family in service the Miyoshi clan in Iga. In 1573, his father was killed and Sanada swore revenge and began training the arts of Iga ninjutsu. He had to run away though, when his master discovered he was having an affair with one of his mistresses.

Then there's another that says he didn't learn ninjutsu, was born in the Kawachi Province. Instead, he formed took on the name Goemon and formed a band of thieves to rob the rich lords, and to merchants to give the spoils to the poor.

A lot of speculation... Is it even clear that it was one man? It could've been that many took on the name, isn't that right?

Could be.

He has a definitive ending though: a lot of accounts agree he was publicly executed, but they can't agree on how, sort of.

Almost impressive, isn't it? But I guess that's the line between historical figure and urban legend.

True... I wouldn't be much of a history teacher, if I couldn't spot that. But, for some, it's a little more muddy than others.

And Ishikawa Goemon is swimming in mud.

...

Or oil, as the case was.

One of the ways he might've been killed. It wasn't...oil, was it...?

That's the one thing they all agree on. It's just the circumstances of it, and what happened during that I've seen different accounts of.

[ Or, uh. Read about on the train after Yusuke joined them. ]

The part of history I don't like...how barbaric it could be.

It's a bit... intense, yeah. They couldn't just throw someone in prison, it was all public executions and shaming.

I think the only way to spite them now is to keep living.

But on the other side, that's what they want. [ Ugggggggggggggggggh. ]

Might as well annoy some people who deserve it in the process.
