WEEK 6
[Week six comes like an ominous wave. If anything, the wall is more threatening that it's ever been. That sign from last week? Looks aged-- like it's far more than just a week old. But more than that, it feels like something is waiting to snap this week. What could possibly go wrong, after last week?
Said no one ever, at this point.
But still, if you look around this week, you might find out something. It's like someone has started leaving clues in places old and new. Take a look around.]

[The man gets to his feet and bends over in apology.]
My name! My name is- Golyadkin, Yakov Petrovitch!
[He stands a little more upright.]
It’s a pleasure, Mitarai-san. [He adjusts his glasses with a sheepish smile.] I’ve always wanted to go to a ramen bar with the guys from work but, um, they never invited me along...

[the amount of solidarity he feels for this guy is UNREAL. he waves his pen.]
Well, you should try it by yourself at least once! You know, you should actually sit all the way at the front, if it's a place where you sit facing the right - I know it seems counterintuitive to put yourself in the public eye like that, but your right elbow will be over empty space instead of the bar, and you won't get in the way of any groups that come in together.

[He blinks.]
That's...that's a really smart idea, Mitarai-san! [In all honesty, neither Golyadkin nor Gogol would have thought of it.] I just get so intimidated by all those people there and I, um, well...I get a little jealous, too.

[He brightens up a little at that. Was it really appropriate for a salaryman to get so excited over sweets? He tries to keep himself in check.]
That's very generous and, um, sweet, aha...
[He's got to hold back from laughing at his own jokes like this.]

[get it? Suiitona, not amai?]
You know, things like people walking a mile to return your wallet... It seems like you've gotten a little ostracized at your workplace, and my heart goes out to you... it might be related to your overseas origin, but on the other hand that distance probably means at least they won't go really out of their way. To throw away your notebooks in puddles or anything like that.
workplace abuse (?) cw
Then, with Mitarai's next words, his face falls a little bit.]
They'd really do something like that? Well, my boss, he'd hit me sometimes but I guess that's not really the same.
[Besides, the man got what was coming to him in the end.]
