[Entrance Exam] Final Exam
[ It's all happened very suddenly, but regardless, you're here now. The evidence has been examined and collected. You've now been ushered into the classroom to discuss the murder of the great detective himself, Sherlock Holmes. The traditional set up has been disturbed-- all the desks are now arranged in a perfect circle; one desk for each person that's participating in the program. There are nameplates for everyone, and they have been bolted to each of the desks, facing the inside of the circle...
...including the names of the ones who are no longer with you, the Prospect of Elucidating and the Prospect of Murder. Their chairs have been placed on top of their desks, signifying that they will not be needed. Above of their desks are holograms of their portraits from their profiles, grayed out and bloodstained.
At the front of the classroom, Vivienne sits anxiously behind the teacher's desk. The projector shows Sherlock's portrait, along with five other portraits that are listed under an auspicious header. ]
[ The physical evidence tray sits in the middle of the circle of desks; you all have the Evidence app on your tablets to access photo evidence. And although she appears reluctant, Vivienne gives some final instructions. ]
Your final test... is to find the culprit. Naturally... the person you find guilty will be... punished... so... make sure you look for an answer you're... confident in. An error in judgment would be... cruelly... fatal...
Examination START.

I looked around the cafeteria and kitchen area - there's a couple of photos on the tablet, but to summarise: I found two teacups on one of the tables, with a strong smell of NyQuil about them. When I checked in the kitchen, there was a knife missing from one of the knife blocks in the food prep area.
Did anyone find it elsewhere in the building?

So, obviously, our man, Sherlock, drank the NyQuil. If he was really Sherlock Holmes, he had an opiate addiction. NyQuil can come pretty close to simulating that feeling.
The question is, who was with him last night? A friend, or the killer?

[ ...Yeah he checked thoroughly. ]

Did you see his pants? He wasn't wearing no JNCO's.

That's what I'm getting at. Nyquil is a bulky bottle.
If you want to suggest that, go ahead, but you are literally suggesting that Sherlock Holmes, the smartest man alive, famous for being exacting in his observations, wouldn't notice NyQuil was slipped in his drink.
So, yeah, if you want to say he got dumb overnight, go for it.

[ ... ]
I guess if he is from the stories, then that addiction would be widely known. Was he showing any signs of withdrawal or agitation recently?
no subject
He did look kinda sick in the meeting on Tuesday-- remember? It looked like he had a cold but...what if he was actually having withdrawal symptoms?
no subject
Right, he did. So if he was starting to feel withdrawal symptoms... then that was a quite a place to broadcast it to everyone.

[ he crosses his arms ]
I think it would have been a great place for the murderer to find someone to attack.

[ ... That's an incredibly uncomfortable thought. That someone was assessing them for signs of weakness. ]
And if you saw him and also knew about his addiction and potential withdrawal symptoms from the Holmes novels, then that's even worse.

Did the teacups have any liquid left in them? And could you tell if they had been used to drink tea, or something else?
And was the NyQuil scent from both cups?
mod-chans~
Hm, I think the smell was only coming from one cup.
[ If Akira thinks back, will he remember which cup the scent was coming from, and if there was any liquid left in them to suggest it had been tea in those cups? ]

It looks like it was tea in the cups. And I think it was the one on the right that had the medicine scent coming from it.
