[ You're doing well! In fact, there's a nice message in your inboxes on Sunday reminding you about your midterm evaluations, and how those will be coming very soon. Make sure you're studying! And, of course, there will be support services on campus to help you cope with the stress. The message almost looks like it should go on and list what those services are, but it cuts off abruptly, and that's that.

Meanwhile, the wall is more ominous than it has been in the past. What felt oppressive last week feels oddly eerie, and if you let yourself stay near too long, it feels oddly comforting and calling. Your freedom is just on the other side of the wall, after all. But that's okay, someone has posted a warning outside all buildings to not go near the wall.

Oh well. At least there are new locations to explore!]

[ An immediate response, almost clipped. ] I'm just here for that young lady over there. She isn't the real deal, but it's close.

Who is she?

I finally remembered her name today... even though I knew her face for a while. Her name is Caren Ortensia. She's the Sister that took place of the Overseer in the recreation of the Holy Grail War that I made.

Overseer...? I... don't recall you mentioning that position in the explanation you gave me.

[He noted everything down afterward and reviewed it several times. He's pretty sure no Overseer was mentioned.]

I don't really like talking about the original Overseer, and it's not like he's really all that important in the long run. But the church sends in a person to watch over the war. Unfortunately, that shitty priest ends up dying in all iterations of the story, so it made it easy for someone to intervene with the recreation by filling in the empty role.

That's right.

His name was Kotomine Kirei. Long story short, he got tainted by the Grail at the end of the fourth war and was fated to die at the end of the fifth.

[He'll be sure to remember that name.]

So... did he die at the end of the fifth?

It is. For me, anyway.

... I'm guessing that there is a reason why that is a good thing beyond the fact you don't like him.

[He has a feeling that he'll really not like this Kirei person once he hears the full story.]

There is, but I don't really care about talking about it. It's not important, anyway.

So... ah... Caren was it? I take it you have a better opinion of her than you did about Kirei.

Well, I still don't remember her that well. I only have a few memories of her. But she annoys me in a completely different way.

She's willing to sacrifice herself to save the lives of others. Just like him.

Those types of people... tread the line between selflessness and selfishness.

You're right. I don't think it's necessarily bad. In fact, in some ways, that line of thinking.... it's beautiful. But that woman ends up hurting herself to save others because that's all she can do, with her abilities.
