WEEK ONE

[ Well that Orientation... happened. Whether you feel more informed or not, the truth remains. Here you are, within Fayflower University. You have your run of the campus, indoors and out.

There's also your tablets to play with. There are several apps-- and even a game! They didn't leave you without some entertainment. The music is a bit dated though...

And should you wish, there's still time to talk to the "staff" in a more... private setting. The office. They're not hard to find. Well-- your Professor, Han and Megumi aren't. Oswald is a bit more... difficult. ]

[ waver frowns, arms crossed. this is honestly fucked up, and he's in a grail war ]

How did Todd try to push you guys, last time? What kind of methods did he use? Threatening? Bribery? And why did the culprit end up falling for it? If we're able to take note of this, it might be possible to support those that are more susceptible to this man's manipulation techniques.

[ ... ]

Or something like that.

I don't think it's people susceptible to manipulation you have to worry about, really. [There's a crazy clown.] It might become an issue in the future, but in my experience people who murder generally do it because they would have anyway.

[In the 19th century, you could just murder people and the cops would look down on your work like "hm, this shit is too complicated let's go get a drink."]

[personal profile] devotingly 2018-08-16 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Most people are capable of murder when pushed far enough. It just depends on which buttons you push and how hard you push them. Even the kindest people can become murderers.

[ he pauses, as if remembering something unpleasant and then he continues ]

But there are people that just kill for the sake of it. Psychopaths and whatnot. Those...don't need a reason to kill.
tannic: by the leader in red (i got my feelings bruised)

[personal profile] tannic 2018-08-16 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. Think about it: why would you bring survivors from the previous experiment here knowing you couldn't keep them from spreading this information unless you were hoping the information would spread? They went so far as to bring one of them late.

[ after a moment of thought, waver comes up with an idea. ]

The Administrators...they said that they have some sort of immunity to the hijacking. What if...they're trying to see which one of us is able to become immune to it? Similar to how you'd inject small quantities of poisons to create a resistance, they might be putting us under stress to see which ones will resist.

Those that do will become "heroes".
tannic: that they both are satisfied (if heaven and hell decide)

[personal profile] tannic 2018-08-16 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I would think you wouldn't have murders happen randomly if that's the case. There's too much chance you'll kill what you're looking for. [What happens if you kill the "hero" you're creating after all?] No, this seems more like a ritual of sorts.
devotingly: (pic#12458774)

[personal profile] devotingly 2018-08-16 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
If you can't defend yourself, then that would mean that you're not fit for being a hero either. Maybe they're trying to implement something like 'survival of the fittest'.

[ he shrugs. ]

Besides, what kind of ritual are you talking about?
Edited (my names tori im 23 and i dont know how to fuckin write) 2018-08-16 20:20 (UTC)

[personal profile] tannic 2018-08-17 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's just the sort of thing that seems more mystical than scientific. It's disingenuous to think that the Apprentice Survivor is on the same level as the Apprentice of Gaming, in terms of ability to be a "hero," by their definition, but if you think about it more like a ritual it would make sense: take twenty-something people, all of different skills, and make them perform a specific task in order to summon a "hero," as it were.

[Not that he thinks that's better, but it makes more sense that way.]

[personal profile] devotingly 2018-08-17 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Hah? You don't need something as complicated as that to summon a hero. That's out of the question.
tannic: it is never easy (you apollo)

[personal profile] tannic 2018-08-18 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps not where you come from, but rituals are tied to a place are they not? Wherever we are is not where we are from - or when we are from, as the case may be.

The last time we were here, we were all forced to relive our worst memories. I don't know how they did it, but we had flashbacks, constantly... to things that made us sad, or hurt.

The cul-

[Yoosung's eyes suddenly become dark. He's still incredibly mad about this. He doesn't even want to call him the culprit!!]

Mishima was coerced. Holmes said he was a spirit, and he could be summoned again if he was killed... so they worked together to make the memories stop. He thought he was helping all of us, and he had no idea he would be executed.

Holmes? As in Sherlock Holmes?

[ well, there's no helping the way that waver's eyes widen as he hears a name that he's only heard of in stories. not only that, but the way that yoosung was saying it...well, it is shocking.

however that's not the main point. ]

Of course, if they're pushed to a point where they're made psychologically vulnerable, they'll be more willing to believe something like that. That's exactly what I mean.
starswink: (weak)

[personal profile] starswink 2018-08-16 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he was Sherlock Holmes. Not that I really get how that works...

[what the fuck is fate/]

Well, did you already know they can manipulate our memories that directly?
devotingly: (pic#12458772)

[personal profile] devotingly 2018-08-16 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't. This is just a theory at most. However, after being hijacked myself, it's not hard to believe that these people are capable of doing it on their own.
starswink: (Rika...)

[personal profile] starswink 2018-08-16 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's just fretting at that.]

I thought they were similar too... making us relive our memories and hijacking personalities, that's not too far different if you get down to it!

I don't want to think about this, but... They're used to working with all of these advanced AI like Viv, right? Maybe they just... [Yoosung grimaces as he says it.] Put some kind of chip in our brains, too!
devotingly: (pic#12477342)

[personal profile] devotingly 2018-08-17 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Chips in our brains?

[ well, waver would deny it further, but if this is really such a far future, then it might actually be possible. ]

I guess...we can't really toss that theory aside. And I guess that would explain why we're only "safe" inside the campus. [ he shrugs ] But it's still a little hard to believe, to be honest.
