[Entrance Exam] Week One

It would seem that it will be... some time before you're released. Two weeks. That may sound like forever, in this situation. But you aren't left with nothing to do. The Administrator has been kind enough to update the Tasks application on your tablet. There are also now several different tasks that you can accept. Who knows... you might get something good out of it. It's worth checking out at least. There are also several other new applications you can toy with, too.

And you won't go hungry. The staff is here to prepare meals three times a day. Breakfast is served from 6AM-8AM, lunch from 11PM-1PM, and dinner from 5PM-7PM. You'd best make sure you're in the cafeteria in time for those meals, because they won't be waiting around all day for you. They have lives, too. Unfortunately, you won't really be able to ask them about any of that. The serving area is separated by a glass wall, through which they serve you. Even if you try asking-- it would seem they have been told not to answer.

The rest... well. You may just have to see for yourself. At least you're not alone.

That's... [He can't say it's good, but it sounds too callous to say it's better than the alternative. Not that they could be sure he wasn't dead, either.]

Were you looking for him before you got here?

[personal profile] detectivepika 2018-05-23 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Mhmm. Not that long ago, his son- Tim- came to Ryme City, looking for him. We've been investigating the case further ever since.

I hope he's doing alright without me.
notsumereiko: thinking, he kind of looks pissed too tbh (hmm)

[personal profile] notsumereiko 2018-05-23 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
How old is he? [He'd probably be a teenager at the least, right...?]
detectivepika: (05)

[personal profile] detectivepika 2018-05-23 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, Tim? He's, uh...

Twenty? I think?

[tfw no memories]
notsumereiko: sigh, thinking about stuff, oops (why this)

[personal profile] notsumereiko 2018-05-23 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
[That's reassuring. ...Is what Natsume wants to say, but the uncertainty kind of gets him. Does he just not understand how people age or...???]

You think...? Um, he's not a child at least, right?
detectivepika: (06)

[personal profile] detectivepika 2018-05-23 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, he can drive. And I'm... pretty sure humans can't do that without a licence thing? So he's at least eighteen.

And Baker is fine with him investigating his father's case alone- with me, that is- so he can't be a kid or anything. Unless Baker's just really irresponsible, I guess?
notsumereiko: thinking, he kind of looks pissed too tbh (hmm)

[personal profile] notsumereiko 2018-05-24 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's good. [At least there isn't a randomly abandoned kid back wherever Ryme City is. Still, there's apparently someone else Pikachu knows that can interact(?) with him, so... hmm. Natsume's getting the sense that he's misunderstood something here. So he steps closer, kind of just... squinting intensely at Pikachu the whole time.

Sorry detective.]

[personal profile] detectivepika 2018-05-24 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
... Uhhhh. What? Do I have somethin' on my face?

notsumereiko: sigh, thinking about stuff, oops (why this)

[personal profile] notsumereiko 2018-05-24 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Oops. And he couldn't sense anything either...]

...Sorry. Um... can you tell me what you are?
detectivepika: (03)

[personal profile] detectivepika 2018-05-24 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, uh, sure. You coulda just asked...

I'm a Pikachu! It's a type of Pokemon. But I take it that you're one of the many people here who has no idea what those are...?
notsumereiko: sigh, thinking about stuff, oops (why this)

[personal profile] notsumereiko 2018-05-25 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
[It's true, he could've. But old habits die hard, for him, especially when it comes to seeing strange things that shouldn't exist.]

...Yeah. Outside of stories, it's really just people who can sit and talk together like this.
detectivepika: (06)

[personal profile] detectivepika 2018-05-25 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
... I don't get what you mean. What about stories?
notsumereiko: thinking, he kind of looks pissed too tbh (hmm)

[personal profile] notsumereiko 2018-05-26 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Well, like the sorts of things you hear about in folklore. Spirits that play tricks on people, creatures that aren't human or animals... although I guess those are also pretty common in novels and movies nowadays too.

[But either way, the only animal-like things he's talked to before were all youkai, so.]
detectivepika: (04)

[personal profile] detectivepika 2018-05-27 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Spirits.. so like ghost-type Pokemon?

[Yeah, he doesn't quite get it.]

There's some creatures in folklore that people debate about, but most people agree they're just rare and legendary Pokemon.
notsumereiko: (well that's new and interesting (?))

[personal profile] notsumereiko 2018-05-28 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Sort of, but... they aren't necessarily dead. Like tree spirits or mountain spirits. Most people don't believe in them anymore, so I don't think they're really like Pokemon.

[Although he's pretty sure his friends would look at him like he's crazy if he described seeing a Pokemon to them.]
