[Entrance Exam] Week One
It would seem that it will be... some time before you're released. Two weeks. That may sound like forever, in this situation. But you aren't left with nothing to do. The Administrator has been kind enough to update the Tasks application on your tablet. There are also now several different tasks that you can accept. Who knows... you might get something good out of it. It's worth checking out at least. There are also several other new applications you can toy with, too.
And you won't go hungry. The staff is here to prepare meals three times a day. Breakfast is served from 6AM-8AM, lunch from 11PM-1PM, and dinner from 5PM-7PM. You'd best make sure you're in the cafeteria in time for those meals, because they won't be waiting around all day for you. They have lives, too. Unfortunately, you won't really be able to ask them about any of that. The serving area is separated by a glass wall, through which they serve you. Even if you try asking-- it would seem they have been told not to answer.
The rest... well. You may just have to see for yourself. At least you're not alone.

Let's see... There's applications listing the "rules" of this place, profiles with descriptions and pictures of everyone, maps of the area, the tasks which I've already told ya about... and then some stuff I don't think you can use or will really have a use for. Like taking pictures or writing notes. Don't think you can coordinate your paws too well for that.
[He pauses. After a moment, Pikachu grins, and holds the tablet at arm's length, grinning into the camera and making sure Hollyleaf is in the shot. Hollyleaf will be able to see herself on the screen as Pikachu takes a selfie with her.]

Wh- i-it's like looking in the lake- wh-wh-what?!
[ The selfie captures her absolutely flabbergasted expression just in time. ]
no subject
[Pikachu shows her the selfie.]
Look at us! We look ridiculous- this angle distorted my face so badly- and look at you!
Anyway, that's what a camera does. Back to the other apps, or have I just blown your mind and you need a minute to adjust?
no subject
[ yeah give her a minute ]

So, I took a picture of us, so now this tablet has a reflection of that moment, that we can look at whenever we want.
And you can take a picture of anything- like, uh- [He presses a couple buttons on the device, re-opening the camera app and changing the screen to reflect the back camera. He points it at some plants.]
See, now I can take a picture of the stuff in front of us- [Snap!] like that!
[Here, Hollyleaf, a slightly blurry photo of some plants by the pond!]
no subject
Oh... That's astounding. Astounding...!! How does it work?
no subject
[He sounds a little wistful on that last word.]
But yeah- aside from that, I have no idea. But it's cool, isn't it?
no subject
[ She doesn't ask what electricity is, of course, because that seems like it'd be too much for her. She shakes her head and instead opens her mouth to start scenting for things she recognizes. ]
I- here. I'll just- find whatever I know the scent of. Here's...lavender. This is...either borrage or yarrow, I can never tell those apart. Sorrel? Yes, sorrel. Chervil... Oh, and some poppy seeds. These would be put to much better use helping a cat sleep, but I suppose the Twolegs can use it for food.
[ She rolls her eyes and starts nipping at stems and stalks, to gather. ]
no subject
[He'd almost forgotten about the task completely.]
So- so these can work? Thank you!
[He sounds genuine, and his grin gets wider.]
I have no clue which of these can be used for cooking, but we can just take a whole bunch of 'em and hope for the best. Here-
[Pikachu sets his tablet down, and starts gathering whatever she points out, laying them down on the tablet like it's a platter. He'll carry it inside later when they're done.]
I think that whenever two people work on a task, they both get rewarded. So I guess you'll get something too? But I have no idea what...
no subject
[ She shrugs with one shoulder, as she's still gathering, spitting out some juices from the stems. ]
If you say I was here, that won't be enough, will it? [ The look of displeasure on her face probably isn't just from the taste of the spices. ] I'd rather avoid interacting with whatever Twoleg assigned this. Oh- wait, that's no way to carry herbs...or spices, I guess. I'll find a large leaf to wrap them in.

[Pikachu may have been a little harsh about it the day before, but he does get the fact that Hollyleaf is scared of humans. He's not a complete asshole. He just wasn't a fan of her getting mad at people for not knowing things that she's lived with her entire life.
But the chefs aren't well-intentioned fellow captives, as far as he knows; he doesn't really trust the staff of this place, and he would definitely prefer having someone with him.]
no subject
...I suppose...that'd work well. You do the talking, and I'll just watch.
