Midterm Exam.

[ Once again, the exam begins with the desks arranged in a perfect circle; one desk for each person that's participating in the program. There are nameplates for everyone, and they have been bolted to each of the desks, facing the inside of the circle...

...including the deceased. Their chairs have been placed on top of their desks, signifying that they will not be needed. Above of their desks are holograms of their portraits from their profiles, grayed out and bloodstained.

Today Han and Vivienne both are at the front of the classroom, but it's Vivienne that finally speaks up. ]


Today is your Midterm exam. Having successfully passed the halfway mark for the semester, today's proceedings will be a little bit different.

You are responsible for finding the culprits responsible for the deaths of Doris and Hank Anderson. You will have several hours to discuss the evidence and your decision. Know that there are two people among these here that bear the responsibility for these events. You will be asked to vote for each. The two with the highest number of votes will receive their punishment.

I'm guessing then someone threw Hank's body in a golf cart and started chasing Doris around the pool area until they ran her over. Then I guess they lost control of the vehicle and crashed it into the shed.

Correct me if I got something wrong.

I'm not sure about the crashing part, but I think that sounds about right. Someone throwing his body into the cart would fit with why I found him the way he was. And if someone wanted to take care of Doris, remembering what happened in the AV Room--that she was quicker than they could chase on their feet.

...Why would they throw him on the cart like that? If they were chasing that hat, then why would...?

I'm not sure. I'm kind of a little iffy on that part...but if his body landed out in the courtyard, that's the only way someone would be able to move his body.

The last killer we had did stab someone repeatedly because he thought it'd go faster.

Speaking of the golf cart... do we know who exactly the golf cart used in the crime belonged to? I’ve been thinking that If we assume that Doris was the one behind Hank’s murder... than perhaps she took Mike’s golf cart and drove it to the courtyard. Then... all she would have to do after sending Hank out the window to his death would be to load him onto the golf cart so she could hide the body.... but her killer perhaps came across the scene and got to there golf cart before her... and started chasing her with the golf cart. Eventually they caught up and ran Doris over.

Anyone could have gotten a golf cart. Even if it's mine, does that matter?

It does matter. If it isn’t yours... then either someone took someone else’s... or it belonged to the killer... but I’m far more inclined to believe it’s your’s. Unless Doris was strong enough to carry Hank’s body all on her own... then she would need some way to transport it to a hiding spot.... unless you think Doris was idiotic enough to leave Hank’s corpse right below the window she likely sent him plunging to his death from. I personally dont see why she would get sloppy right at the end of her plan. This entire set up has clearly been premeditated and it doesn’t make sense for her not to try and hide Hank’s body when she clearly planned to get away with this.

I mean... before this.. most of us didn’t know Doris was anything more than a hat. Really... to me.. it seems like she was planning to murder Hank, hide the body, and then try and use you staying in your room as her alibi... and not tell you she killed Hank.. thus leaving you clueless and not having to worry about you dooming them both by letting anything slip or breaking down under questioning.

... But where does the second person fit into all these theories? If we were voting for one person, then this would add up. But we're not.

Depends on if you think Hank was alone when he got attacked, I guess.

If he was, then the only time someone'd be able to come in would be after all the cart shit.

But if he was only attacked by one person then... do we even know what counts as holding responsibility? Do they mean that two separate people committed the murders, or that two people set up the sequence of events that led to deaths, so share responsibility?

I don't know if we wanna get into that yet though. Not if there's something simpler that makes sense.

It didn't stop 'em from killing Viral. Pretty sure they're beyond the point where they care about what's right or not.

I think there had to be a second person in the AV Room at the time Hank was attacked. But, it could've been that they weren't able to keep Hank from being thrown through the window.

But I think you're right. There was a kitchen knife, switchblade, and taser. For one thing, that's two sharp weapons. One of them was probably what Hank used to scratch the floor when he was stabbing Doris skittering around nimbly down there.

If we assume Doris invited Hank with the intention of killing him through slashing claws or a shove through the window - it really makes no sense that she'd have an additional sharp weapon and a taser on top. More so when you found Hank never got tased?

At least one of the three tools probably belonged to "the deck person in the AV room".

...It's kind of weird, isn't it? For those three tools just to be laid there out in the open like that.

[all those creepy anime (and future foundation reports) finally come in handy for his eloquence. to be fair, his alibi on Terra puts him at ease - none of the other suspects are anywhere near as important to him, so now Mitarai feels like the knight defending Terra's honor]

The taser not getting used at all is so strange. How would someone be able to take it out but not have time to use it? Does it really look like it was dropped and not planted?

The thing is, it doesn't look like Hank was hit with it. And it was right along with the other two tools, in the same place.
