[Entrance Exam] Week One

It would seem that it will be... some time before you're released. Two weeks. That may sound like forever, in this situation. But you aren't left with nothing to do. The Administrator has been kind enough to update the Tasks application on your tablet. There are also now several different tasks that you can accept. Who knows... you might get something good out of it. It's worth checking out at least. There are also several other new applications you can toy with, too.

And you won't go hungry. The staff is here to prepare meals three times a day. Breakfast is served from 6AM-8AM, lunch from 11PM-1PM, and dinner from 5PM-7PM. You'd best make sure you're in the cafeteria in time for those meals, because they won't be waiting around all day for you. They have lives, too. Unfortunately, you won't really be able to ask them about any of that. The serving area is separated by a glass wall, through which they serve you. Even if you try asking-- it would seem they have been told not to answer.

The rest... well. You may just have to see for yourself. At least you're not alone.

It's orange and yellow... alternating stripes.

[ So kind of like that shirt Miss Kawakami likes to wear a lot... noted. Maybe those colors were popular with women who grew up in the nineties or something. ]

All right. And you, uh... think it's most likely in here... somewhere?

Yes. This is the most likely place.

[She visited the dorms for a short bit but, almost the whole time she's been in here.]

[ There's a soft and thoughtful hum to the admin. ]

[ Honestly, Nine should have expected this. Finding a notebook isn't a hard task, or so he thought. With a long sigh he pinches the bridge of his nose, surveying the absolute calamity before him. ]

This is a disaster. [ Give him a moment to collect himself before he starts working (and maybe says hi because what are greetings this is a warzone). ]

[ .......cool........ Though honestly, if going through all this stuff gets him an opportunity to look at any information on their whole situation, he'll take it.

Also, this makes him feel REALLY GOOD about his own organizational skills. ]

[ Mostly directed at the administrator, but also his fellow notebook hunters, to whom he gives a friendly wave.

Anyway, he'll... go check out that bookshelf and see if anything stands out, notebook or otherwise. Is it all robotics books, or...? ]

[Twelve immediately hops in the room, most definitely far too animate for how many people are in here and looking around. He'll take enough care not to bump people, even if he gets worryingly close at points. He's all smiles with slightly too many teeth if anyone looks his way in greeting.]

Do we get extra points if we organize this mess better while we search?

[He's having way to much fun playing up nosiness as he searches under some stuff that was tossed on the floor.]

[A large portion of the stuff on the floor is piled against the back wall, under some photographs. No... photographs doesn't quite describe them. They appear to be portraits. They're fairly large so they might be worth taking a peak at!]

[ Flatly. ]

We deserve "graduation" from this place if we can organize all of this. [ But right let's get to work. Nine kneels down, grabbing the errant papers in one hand and lifting up one of the portraits with the other. Who's artistic visage has the honor of laying on the floor in this mess? ]

Do you think we'd get honors too? I bet I'd make a great valedictorian. [You're not looking Nine, but can't you just hear the mischief? Twelve would lose that privilege so fast it'd set a new record.

He's going to lift another a portrait himself even as he's speaking and look around the picture side and the back of the frame,]

[One for each then! The one Twelve picks up is... well. He's not someone they've encountered before. The visage is that of a stern, yet smug looking man. The plaque at the bottom of the frame reads Oswald Hale.

...also of note... there are hooks on the wall where they were hung.

But strangely there are four hooks and yet only two portraits.]

[The visage on this portrait should be fairly familiar. It is of Vivienne after all. At the bottom of the frame, a golden plaque with the name Vivienne Gallivan corroborates that fact.]

[ Twelve a valedictorian? Nine can't help but snort. ]

I know one of us would, at least. [ Hmmmm, a last name is not bad information to have even if it's not particularly useful at the moment. Since there doesn't appear to be any major differences between the portrait and the woman in the office, Nine opts to focus on the empty hooks instead. ]

Vivienne, did you "misplace" two portraits or four?

[Robotics and technology primarily! Coding, operation... lots of complicated things.

Although there are also... a few books on Anthropology and Psychology. Well... for someone as awkward as her, maybe she just wanted to read up on humans. She doesn't seem so good at them.]

[ Not too exciting, but... well, let's glance at a few pages of one of these Anthropology books quickly before moving on to see if the civilizations it mentions are familiar ones? ]

[Yes! There are a number of familiar ones. But if you continue... there are also a lot of unfamiliar ones as well. Things from completely different worlds unlike his own.]

[ Huh. All right.

Anything interesting if glances in the closet before heading back into the eye of the paper storm? ]

[There are two primary areas to her desk. The first is the computer and the second is the piles of file folders and papers scattered around. Obviously the computer won't help you with your task but-- well... you might feel like taking a peak while she's preoccupied...]

[ It's so tempting to touch the computer - haha, nope, more like it's too tempting. He will very discreetly try checking out said computer...

[--there's something on the screen!! It appears to be a word processing program.

[ Fortunately, he is a fast reader, and has that annoying (a lot of the time) photographic memory thing going for him...

So, after making sure she isn't looking... sure. What are we looking at? ]

[It... might be a bit more difficult than one might expect. It appears to be a draft still very much in edit. And she appears to have kept track of the changes.

Since that day I've been thinking about what I should say. Or whether or not you'd want to hear from me The Entrance Exam has begun, but you're probably aware of that. I don't know what I think of them yet. But I hope they do well. I want to see them succeed. I know you didn't believe in this program but I want to see it to the end. I've doubted myself a lot What happened then was
