[ Like last time, the exam begins with the desks arranged in a perfect circle; one desk for each person that's participating in the program. There are nameplates for everyone, and they have been bolted to each of the desks, facing the inside of the circle...

...including the deceased. Their chairs have been placed on top of their desks, signifying that they will not be needed. Above of their desks are holograms of their portraits from their profiles, grayed out and bloodstained.

Han is at the front of the classroom again, looking noticeably neutral about the entire setup. His laptop is closed behind him. ]

You know the drill. [his voice sounds soft, tight.]

Be careful with who you pick, as they'll be answering for their crime with their life.

I found these in the male gym showers this morning when I was looking around.

[ connor puts a Fayflower school uniform jacket and shirt in the evidence tray. it smells strongly of soap and febreeze. the sleeves have been cut off both the jacket and the shirt, and the cut is clean. ]

It tested positive for Grantaire's DNA.

[Poe puts in a written summary of the state of Henry's body and a summary of all the murder plans for Toddswald. The summary of Henry's body takes care to note the gentleness it was arranged with, the bruising on his right wrist, how the death wasn't recent, that he was in his school uniform, and how the head wound killed him.]

...In the Faculty Office, Akira and I found Grantaire's head in the trash can. It was wrapped in cloth and also had a string of lights in there, too.

[Max will point out the lights, whitch has one light missing, as if it had been broken off.]

Akira got a better look at the head than I did, though. I was mostly checking out these lights.

[ Oso turns in a portion of Henry's torn makeshift cape. It's shredded a bit at the end. ]

[ He'll also turn in the notes about Oswald's routines (with the bit about nightly coffee runs being circled). ]

[ Akira just sets down some shredded cloth, a single, skull shaped light that matches the string of lights Max set down, and a taser, with a cloth scrap attached to it. ]

This was everything. Looks like the light comes from the string that Max has... and there was an impact mark outside of the office, with blood around it. The tiles were cracked, like something hit it really hard.

I have a photo of it, if you want to examine it.

[ Terra falls silent after that moment of bewilderment, and then he crosses his arms. He looks upset, which is probably expected but he looks a little offended as well. ]

This air freshner and soap that Connor found... it’s pretty strong. Obviously it was most likely used to get out the scent of decomposition out of the uniform, but...isn’t it possible that our culprit might smell of it still?

Considering that someone went so far as to throw these over The Wall.... I um... I think it's safe to say that they were particularly worried about this evidence in particular being incriminating.... and it's not Henry's... so the owner is likely the culprit. So... can all the suspects please try these clothes on?

[Poe... really looks awkward the whole time he's speaking. He did not want to be the one to cat herd, but it was his idea so... god he's going to be embarrassed if this turns up nothing.]

Timeline Attempt

Excuse me, everyone...

We made a lot of progress interrogating each of the suspects, but shouldn't we think about the timeline of the murder a little more? Like Henry's movements?

We found him in the garden, but there's blood in front of the office, and we know that Henry was interested in finding Oswald walking out of the office. To be honest, it's also obviously the way Grantaire's head got out of Henry's room in the first place, isn't it? Henry must have wanted to sh-show the head to Oswald... He probably brought the lights and taser with him too. The lights were a really eccentric part of his plans, and there's no evidence that the culprit used the taser on Henry.

When you think of it that way... it stands out that... we never found a weapon. You'd think at first that Henry was struck by a club or something if his poor face was so crushed, right? But there's no baseball bat or anything lying around. That makes it look like the culprit, well, used his own body. In other words, the culprit punched or kicked Henry down to the floor, hard. The culprit was a quite physically strong person... especially because going on to move the body all the way to the garden... I guess that applies to most of the suspect list, though.

One more thing... Henry's cape was torn in the struggle. It's different from the way someone cut that jacket. That would fit more with it getting caught in something on the floor... It seems likelier someone kicked Henry instead of punching, especially because the culprit stepped on the febreeze bottle.

[Saying all these words at once is clearly a huge struggle for Mitarai and there were several times he had to pause for breath or look like he wanted to crawl off into a corner.]

[If Viral has seemed rather reserved compared to the last trial, there's good reason, isn't there?]

I heard Henry talking to the damn head on my way to bed, so I followed him to the main building. He went for that administrator with the taser, and I tried to stop him, so that he wouldn't get killed like an idiot for breaking the rules, or worse. I grabbed him by the cape, but it ripped.

...Humans are much more fragile than I ever thought. He got me with the taser, and I lost control of my weight, slamming his head into the floor. The best that can be said for it is that it was quick.
